submissions
Dragonheart Press welcomes submissions by email – this is partly due to environmental concerns and the volume of submissions we receive, the greater speed with which they can be processed. If you must submit via mail please ensure each page has your name and address and that you include a stamped-self-addressed-envelope or International Reply Coupon if acknowledgment/return is required.
We endeavour to acknowledge/return submissions as quickly as possible. We also post updates on this site whenever there are any major production delays.
In the first instance please submit no more than three poems of a length no greater than 40 lines. Please include a short biography including any awards, publications, inspirations etc that you think would be of interest to your readers.
Our house style is best seen in the works of poets such as Ted Hughes, ee cummings, TS Eliot, William Carlos Williams and Dylan Thomas.
Like most publishers we would recommend you study the style in our published works to get a feel for the type of work we prefer. The editor prefers serious, thoughtful poetry over light verse and humourous anecdotes. Original artwork, illustration and photography which supports the poetry is also welcomed. We are strongly biased towards poetry that seeks to capture place and moment, burning emotion and metaphor. We also have a preference for free verse which relies on imagery and rhythm.
It is not necessary to approach us via an Agent, all submissions are reviewed equally. The journal does not pay contributors.
Please send submissions to The Executive Editor. – Dragonheart Press, 11 Menin Road, Allestree, Derby DE22 2NL, England
